With two All-Pro and three Pro Bowl call-ups since entering the NFL in 2021, Micah Parsons has undeniably been a top 3 edge rusher in the league. He only has one year remaining in his rookie contract, but the 25-year-old is in no hurry to sign the new one.
Parsons would prefer to see CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott get their due. Similar to him, both Lamb and Prescott will play the final year of their respective contracts.
While the Cowboys have a fair idea of how much Lamb might ask, Prescott’s story is different and complicated. He can neither be traded nor franchise-tagged and releasing him before March 2025 would count as $40.25 million against the salary cap.
Parsons is aware of all the scenarios, which is why his first order of action after attending the Mandatory Minicamp was to clear out that he is ready to wait for the right moment.

Micah Parsons is just fine waiting on his contract situation. He knows the price only goes up. “One day. Time will tell. I can’t really put a timetable on it. All I gotta do is keep getting sacks.”

Contract talks can wait for Micah Parsons as he eyes a successful training camp with the Cowboys
After fans found out that Micah Parsons was traveling around the world for personal training instead of attending the OTAs, most of them thought it was because the Penn State graduate demanded more money. However, the reason behind Parsons’ absence was simple, and it wasn’t an isolated move.

Even though Parsons is back with the team, wide receiver 1 CeeDee Lamb has opted to skip the minicamp due to halted contract talks. The linebackers spoke in support of Lamb, claiming he deserves to be the best-paid receiver in the NFL.
