Jason Statham had to swim with real sharks to understand fear before filming ‘The Meg’.TS hung

The movie “Jaws” once portrayed a ferocious shark, a terrifying obsession for residents living around the sea. But it becomes completely small when compared to the villain of the movie “The Meg”, the prehistoric Megalondon shark with insane bloodlust.

The film tells the story of an expedition trapped at the bottom of the deepest geological trench in the Pacific Ocean. Dr. Minway Zhang – the most visionary person in the group – called sea rescue expert Taylor to come to the rescue. But being trapped in the deep sea is nothing compared to what they are about to face, the nightmare that could be the most terrifying of their lives: falling into the sights of a prehistoric shark with giant size.

Taylor, who had a chance encounter with this terrifying creature a year earlier, will team up with Suyin ( Li Bingbing ) to save those trapped at the bottom of the sea. Can they avoid the clutches of the ocean’s most ferocious predator and complete their mission?

Based on the novel by Steve Alten , the film The Meg has made some changes from the author’s original.  “I know some of you are disappointed that the movie is different from what appears in the book,” Alten shared in a Facebook post, which has since been deleted. “I completely understand, and take it as a compliment. However, you guys are relying on subjective opinion to judge a few minutes of the trailer – and some footage. The Mariana Trench looks incredible in the international trailer. They tried creating an albino shark, and the CGI looked fake. I applaud their decision to change. “

Although the monster in the movie was made using CGI technology, star Jason Statham  accepted to “play big” by challenging himself to swim with a real shark before starting filming to bring the experience to life. The most authentic experience for the audience.

“In the early stages of preparation, we took a trip to Fiji and went diving with some bull sharks,”  Statham revealed to Entertainment Weekly . “They feed them by hand and it’s an interesting sight. These three meter long fish look like real monsters. There were 20 or 30 of them there, and they were feeding them big tuna, we were so close, it was a breathtaking moment. Swimming close to a three meter shark is an experience I recommend everyone try.”

The Meg will open in theaters on August 10, 2018, starring actor Jason Statham and Chinese actress Li Bingbing .
