The puncher who defeated “Gypsy King” Tyson Fury now has to clean up the trash. ts.chuong

Before competing with Oleksandr Usyk (Ukraine) on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, Tyson Fury went through 35 matches and never tasted defeat, with 34 wins, 1 draw and 24 knockouts. But the undefeated record of the “Gypsy King” was no longer there when he lost on points to Uysk after 12 rounds and missed the opportunity to unify the heavyweight championship.

Before the fight with Usyk, an old opponent of the “Gypsy King” confirmed that he had defeated the British boxer.

McDermott (right) affirmed that he deserved to beat Fury (left) in 2009

Former boxer John McDermott said he was the one who deserved to win the match with Fury on September 11, 2009. However, this is just John’s personal opinion, because at that time the judges awarded “Gypsy King” Fury the win on points after 10 rounds.

Although McDermott showed good form and many believed he had won, referee Terry O’Connor awarded the victory to Fury with a score of 98-92. This decision caused much controversy and left McDermott feeling disappointed.

McDermott recently shared with Boxing Social: “I’m not saying I will fight for the world championship, but it will help me have more income at that time, when boxing doesn’t bring in much money. Now, Fury I’m a millionaire, and I’m having trouble.”

But McDermott can only blame himself, because in the rematch on June 25, 2010, he lost to Fury by technical knockout in the 9th round.

Receiving two consecutive defeats against Fury, the 44-year-old former boxer played four more matches and retired in 2013. Struggling to find a new job, the boxer nicknamed “Bad John” finally found stability. with the job of a garbage collector.

McDermott shared that although his current job is not glamorous, it gives him a sense of stability and security. He said: “This job is not what I dreamed of, but at least it helps me support my family.”
