According to Reuters on October 21, a California-US federal jury rejected the allegations in the lawsuit that  Cardi B violated privacy rights and illegally used a man’s tattoo on the cover. her debut album.

After more than 4 days of deliberation, the above decision was made with  Cardi B winning over plaintiff Kevin Michael Brophy. The plaintiff also failed to provide evidence to prove his allegations.

In 2016, Cardi B released “Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1” with a cover photo of an anonymous man having sex with a female rapper. On this man’s back is a tattoo of a tiger fighting with a snake. In 2017, Kevin Michael Brophy sued, asking Cardi B and her former manager to pay at least $5 million in compensation because the tattoo on the album cover was his. At the same time, request a ban on  Cardi B from using his image.

Kevin Michael Brophy describes himself as a married man with children. Therefore, when the album was released, he faced comments, questions, and ridicule, leading to an uncomfortable feeling. He calls the above tattoo a “Michaelangelo” – his own great Italian sculptor, painter, architect, and poet. According to the plaintiff, the tattoo was used without permission and the sensitive image was a defamation and a violation of rights, so compensation was requested.

 Cardi B’s side at the time argued that the tattoo on the album cover was an edited version. The model on the cover is a person of color and has hair while the plaintiff is a middle-aged white man with a shaved head. Therefore, according to them, it is difficult for others to look at the album cover and make a mistake. The incident caused debate for a long time.
