Marco Verratti was a key player for Paris Saint-Germain in the middle of the field, but they said goodbye to him last summer. He left the club in the city to play for Al-Arabi in Qatar. They could go back to Europe after one season in Qatar, though.
News sources say that Al-Arabi paid €45 million for Verratti as he ended his 11-year stay at PSG. FC Barcelona was interested in the player in the past, but Paris Saint-Germain never sold the 2020 UEFA Euro winner to a team in Europe.
Still, SPORT says that Barcelona wants to sign Verratti after the player has played for one season in Qatari football. It will depend on how much Al-Arabi wants for the player to decide which Catalan team gets him.
Verratti, who is 31 years old, is under contract until 2025, and Transfermarkt says he is worth €25 million. So, it will be interesting to see if Qatar wants to get their money back for the money they spent on Verratti and if Barcelona has the money to do so while also trying to improve the team in other ways.
