Jurgen Klopp feels that Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stunning free-kick, which helped Liverpool upset Fulham by tricking the home team’s defense, should be mostly attributed to Harvey Elliott. Alexander-Arnold’s spectacular strike gave Liverpool the lead, and Timothy Castagne equalized right before the half. The Reds scored their first goal from open play in four games following the intermission thanks to goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota. Minutes before Alexander-Arnold’s goal, Elliott also tried to wriggle a set-piece under the wall, which Klopp said made the Fulham defenders second-guess their decision.

“Harvey has 10 or 15 percent of the goal because we analysed Fulham and saw the wall jumps so Harvey tried to go under it,” Klopp said, referring to the final five Liverpool games. They were obviously only jumping a small distance, which prevented Harvey from finishing the jump. There was laughter from all in the crowd.
The next time, though, the wall probably didn’t jump as high as it usually does.

With two more away games (against Everton and West Ham) this week, it will be challenging, but we are optimistic that we can achieve success if we can duplicate our performance from today. In order to have any chance of winning silverware in a few weeks, we need to anticipate winning five out of the next five games.
